Well, I feel I must apologize for such a long lapse in writing. April found us moving to Maggie Valley NC. A place we visited for the past 8 years and fell in love with almost immediately, my wife and I said if we ever had the opportunity we would move here. Surprisingly enough that day arrived in March when the owner of the house we stayed at wanted to do a long term rental as opposed to air B&B. I have owned my own home for many years and the thought of renting was something I found appealing. Living in South West Florida for over 25 years and owning my house for 15 of those years I dreaded the summer months when the air conditioner would suck money out of my bank account to keep the house comfortable, plus all the other repairs or improvements that a 60 plus years old house requires. Now I write a check every month that is about the same as my mortgage payment was, but I am not responsible for any of the repairs or improvements which I am finding pretty attractive. At 65 years old I am still very active and capable of doing repairs, remodeling and nearly any improvements a house will require, but at what cost? Everything and anything pertaining to home improvement is crazy expensive today, no one gets out of Lowe’s or Home Depot without spending a week’s or three salary. And that’s only if you’re able to do it yourself, if you have to hire a contractor forget about it. So now as I’m entering old age and my golden years I plan on having more of my gold for those years.
