Our country is celebrating 250 years of being a nation today. For some it’s a big deal for others it’s meh, I am more the latter. I am an American born and raised I have no shame or pride for that because I’m just a guy who been living for 66 years and I have seen our country endure the pains of growth. I’ve seen the beauty of our nation and the ugly, it’s not perfect what is?? But like it or not it’s our country, our home. When we celebrated our 200th birthday it was much different than today, that celebration was strong enough to bring citizens together, it brought back patriotism that had been gone since the Vietnam War. We were a proud nation accepting of our flaws, respectful of our differences. Today I don’t feel any of the patriotism of the nation, maybe we outgrew it, maybe it’s not worth the trouble, it’s been a long 250 years and a lot has happened since we came here, killed the people and stole their land, nearly wipe out species of animals, burn the land so we can build it our way, push the natives onto a postage stamp sized property to live and expect them to live and respect us for not killing them all. After that was done we decided to fight amongst ourselves for awhile and when that was over we were still feeling scrappy and went to Europe to fight their war for them not once but twice, then we got a break, a timeout to regroup before going Korea and Vietnam then we set our sights on the Middle East and we set up shop dug in deep and made it our mission to change those people. The party never ends here.
